The Altoona Area High School is hosting its third annual Turkey Bowl tournament on Wednesday at its intramural field to raise money for the junior/senior prom. With 10 teams already registered, the event is expected to raise over $1,000 for the prom.
Teams participating in the tournament must consist of at least seven girls and three boys. Members of the district’s football team are not eligible to play in the tournament, but they are allowed to serve as coaches. Each team is permitted to have no more than three coaches, according to school officials.
The tournament begins with a series of single elimination games throughout the morning. At 12:45 p.m., the Lioneers dance team will perform at the field with teacher dance partners. The semifinals and championship game will take place afterward.
