There is currently a shortage of approximately 24,000 IT specialists in the Austrian labor market, prompting companies to search for programmers and system administrators at one of the largest technology conferences in the world. The event attracts specialists from 153 countries, and skilled workers were also recruited at the Austria stand at the Websummit in Lisbon. The research quota of 3.2 percent of gross domestic product and the high share of industry in domestic economic output are taken into account, along with high social standards, affordable housing, 13 public holidays, and drinkable tap water.

In response to this shortage, the Chamber of Commerce is focusing on recruiting skilled workers in six countries, including Albania, Brazil, and Indonesia. Additionally, Austrian companies will be brought together with IT talent from around the world at the upcoming IT Job Days. Over 700 skilled workers have already registered for this event according to WKO.
