Bayside Soccer hosted its inaugural soccer tournament on November 11th at the Hannahville Ice and Turf sports complex in Wells. The tournament featured three divisions of play for 12U, 14U, and 16U, with teams from Iron Mountain’s 906 FC, Houghton FC, and Bayside Soccer and its affiliate Delta United Soccer Academy participating.

The goal of the tournament was to create a fun and competitive event for players while raising funds for the high school team. Organizer Amy Blahnik said, “This is our first time hosting a tournament, and we look forward to having more in the spring and next fall.”

The games were played in a round-robin style, with three-on-three matches. The top two teams at the end of group play had a playoff for first place. 906 FC won the 12U group, Houghton FC Red won the 14U, and the 16U winners were from Bayside – Delta United Soccer Academy.

Bayside Soccer was established in 1996 to provide recreational soccer for the region. They offer summer recreation soccer programs that focus on player development, teamwork, and positive coaching experiences for families. Their High School Club program competes regionally against other clubs in Upper Peninsula (UP) Michigan.

Delta United Soccer Academy operates under the Bayside Soccer umbrella with both fall and winter/spring seasons attracting almost 60 players aged ten years old or older. They compete with other clubs in UP Michigan and attend tournaments in Wisconsin with a focus on providing high-quality training for players interested in improving their skills at soccer.
