Dr. Ivica Cvetković, a family medicine doctor, and Maja Žalac, a phytoaromatherapist, both agree that while it may not be possible to completely avoid these illnesses, taking preventative measures can help you recover more quickly should you fall ill.

According to Dr. Cvetković, cold symptoms typically start with a sore throat and are followed by a runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, and a dry and unproductive cough. To alleviate these symptoms, he recommends resting, drinking tea or warm broth, following a light diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, C, and E, zinc, beta-carotene
