Mitch Trubisky returns to Buffalo

The second overall pick in the 2017 draft, Mitchell Trubisky, is returning to Buffalo. After his time with the Chicago Bears came to an end, Trubisky signed with the Bills and has now agreed to terms to rejoin the team, led by quarterback Josh Allen. This move was reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Media.

Trubisky had previously been the Bears’ first-round pick after they traded up to select him at No. 2 in the draft. However, he was recently released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom he spent the last two seasons. During his time with the Steelers, Trubisky appeared in seven games with five starts in 2022, and played in five games with two starts in 2023.

In Buffalo, Trubisky will serve as Allen’s understudy once again. He had previously done this in 2021 and will provide depth and experience to the quarterback position once again. Despite being released by the Steelers, Trubisky was able to secure a new contract just five days before the start of the legal tampering window in free agency.

Overall, Trubisky’s return to Buffalo gives the Bills added depth at quarterback and brings back a familiar face to their roster. As he continues his NFL career, Trubisky will look to contribute in any way he can to help the Bills succeed in the upcoming season.
