Celebrate National Public Health Week on April 1st with this News Flash

National Public Health Week is an annual celebration that takes place the week of April 1 – 7, 2024. During this week, the American Public Health Association (APHA) aims to bring together communities to acknowledge the contributions of public health and raise awareness about the crucial role that public health and prevention play in maintaining community health.

In honor of National Public Health Week, the Trumbull Health Department, TPAUD, and The HUB have teamed up to provide two free training sessions on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The trainings will take place from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Health Department located at 335 White Plains Road in Trumbull. No appointment is necessary to attend these sessions.

One of the training sessions offered is Free Narcan Training, which is open to all residents. This 10-minute training will cover how to identify the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer Naloxone (Narcan). Free naloxone kits will be distributed while supplies last to individuals who are 18 years and older.

Additionally, residents can receive Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) training upon request. This training will provide instruction on how to effectively use an AED to assist individuals experiencing cardiac arrest in public settings.

Residents are strongly encouraged to participate in the events at the Trumbull Health Department on April 2 to gain knowledge and celebrate the successes of public health initiatives.
