Israel barred from largest Latin American aerospace exhibition

The Chilean government has recently decided to ban Israeli companies from attending the Santiago International Aerospace Show, a major event in Latin America. The Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on this matter. It is worth noting that the current President of Chile, Gabriel Borich, holds strong anti-Israeli views. During his election campaign, Borich referred to Israel as a “killer state” and has taken other actions to demonstrate his disapproval of Israeli actions.

In 2022, Borich delayed accepting the credentials of the Israeli ambassador to Chile for an extended period. Following a Hamas attack in Israel in 2023, Borich recalled the country’s ambassador to Israel for consultation, citing violations of international humanitarian law. In January 2024, Chile, along with Mexico, called for an investigation by the International Criminal Court in The Hague into possible crimes committed during the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
