Closing Down Sale at Compass Furniture

Compass Furniture, a long-standing furniture retailer in Jefferson, Louisiana, is closing its doors permanently after being in business for nearly fifty years. The retailer will begin its final liquidation sale on March 21 at its location on 5025 Bloomfield Street, situated behind the Oscher medical building in Jefferson.

Established in 1977 by the late Lou Rippner, Compass Furniture has been a family business now owned by his son, Billy Rippner. As Billy looks towards retirement, he expressed gratitude to the community and dedicated employees who have supported the business over the years.

Lou Rippner, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, began his career in law before making a career change into the furniture industry. After working in the furniture division of City Stores for five years, he decided to open his own furniture business. Billy Rippner joined as co-owner of Compass Furniture in 1992.

Throughout the years, the Rippner family has been active supporters of various charitable organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank, the Salvation Army, and other regional charities. Their commitment to community involvement has been a cornerstone of their business values.
