Closing its doors after half a century in Worcester, Tatnuck Meat & Seafood bids farewell

Tatnuck Meat and Seafood in Worcester, which has been in business for 50 years, has closed its doors permanently due to declining business and the health issues of the owner, Harvey Slarskey. Michael Slarskey, Harvey’s son, expressed gratitude to their loyal customers throughout the years and acknowledged that it was time to close the business.

Over the decades, Tatnuck Meat and Seafood had built a reputation for offering a wide variety of meats and seafood, catering to the local community in the Tatnuck area. However, as the neighborhood changed, business started to decline. Michael, who stepped in to help his father three years ago, shared that the decision to close was a difficult one, as the business had been a part of their lives for so long.

Harvey Slarskey, who started Tatnuck Meats Market in his 30s, was known for his dedication to providing quality products and building personal relationships with his customers. The shop, located at the corner of Pleasant and Mill streets, was a staple in the community. In 2011, seafood was added to the offerings, expanding the selection to include a variety of fresh fish and shellfish.

In interviews over the years, Harvey Slarskey emphasized the importance of customer satisfaction and quality products. Despite the challenges of running a small business, he remained committed to maintaining high standards. With the closing of Tatnuck Meat and Seafood, an era has ended, but the legacy of Harvey Slarskey’s dedication to his customers will always be remembered.
