Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest football players of all time, had a surprising revelation in a recent podcast. He admitted that he once had a teammate at Sporting who was better than him, and that he had told his teammate so himself. The player in question was Fabio Paim, who played with Ronaldo at the beginning of their careers.
Paim recently spoke to The Sun about his life after he and Ronaldo separated. He talked about how fame and fortune destroyed him, but also how he ended up in prison on charges of drug dealing. In the interview, Paim repeated the story of Ronaldo telling him that he was a better player than him, and even claimed that if he worked half as hard as Ronaldo, he would be Messi’s main competitor for the Ballon d’Or.
Ronaldo responded to this interview on social networks with surprise and confusion. “WTF. Who is this character?” he commented on Twitter. It is clear that Ronaldo does not remember Paim or their time together at Sporting. Transfermarkt claims that Paim played for more than 20 clubs in his career and was worth up to 400,000 euros at one point while on loan at Chelsea.
