Dunkirk City Schools are the second-largest district in Chautauqua County, with nearly 2,000 students enrolled. In recent years, the administration has made it a priority to engage more with the community and this effort continues with the formation of an advisory team. The first meeting of the advisory team is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Jamestown Community College’s north county campus location. The meeting will include a light dinner and is open to everyone. According to Jennifer Westerholt, the district’s communications director, this is not seen as supplemental work but rather as critical work that needs to be integrated into everything the district is doing. The focus of the advisory team is on building relationships and partnering with family members, caregivers, and community members to support student growth and learning.
