Exploring Head and Neck Cancer: A Guide to Your Health

Head and neck cancer is a serious health concern affecting about 58,000 people in the U.S. each year. The majority of cases are found in the mouth, specifically on the tongue, gums, tonsils, and upper throat. Early detection is key to a positive outcome, however, most cases are diagnosed at a later stage when they are harder to treat.

KSTP Medical Expert Dr. Archelle Georgiou discussed the importance of early detection of head and neck cancer. In an effort to raise awareness and make screenings more accessible, the Head & Neck Cancer Foundation has organized free screening events throughout the month of April.

The free screening events will take place on various dates and locations, including Dakota Valley OMS in Owatonna and Lakeville on April 16th, and Alpine Dental in Crystal, MN Oral & Facial Surgery in Minneapolis, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates in Bemidji, and MN Oral & Facial Surgery in Sartell on April 19th. These screenings aim to help individuals identify any signs of head and neck cancer early on, improving their chances of successful treatment.
