Former Trump CFO Allen Weisselberg Commences 5-Month Perjury Conviction in New York City

Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization for 30 years, surrendered himself at Manhattan Criminal Court to serve a five-month perjury sentence. After admitting to lying in a pretrial deposition and on the witness stand during a civil fraud trial, Weisselberg’s sentence was previously agreed upon after pleading guilty to two felony charges of first-degree perjury.

During his brief sentencing, Weisselberg stood at the defense table and stated that he had nothing to say before the judge, Laurie Peterson, ordered him to serve the agreed-upon sentence. Court officers handcuffed him, and he was escorted out of the courtroom.

Weisselberg admitted to lying to a state Supreme Court Justice and lawyers from the state Attorney General’s office about his and Trump’s involvement in a fraudulent exaggeration case related to the size of Trump’s penthouse triplex at Trump Tower.

This is not Weisselberg’s first time in a New York City jail, as he previously served 100 days on Rikers Island for involvement in a payroll-tax fraud scheme at the Trump Organization. His attorney, Seth L. Rosenberg, made a statement emphasizing that Weisselberg accepted responsibility for his actions and is looking forward to ending this experience and returning to his family and retirement.
