Dunlap Faces Unique Challenges at Arnold Palmer Invitational

Nick Dunlap will have a unique opportunity at the upcoming PGA Tour’s signature events. Despite being a professional for only his fourth time, he won as an amateur in January at the American Express. However, Tony Finau chose not to play, leaving Bay Hill with only 69 players in the field. Since Finau fell under a specific category, there was no alternate list available for him to be replaced by another player. As a result, Dunlap will be playing the first two rounds as a single player.

Viktor Hovland, upon hearing about Dunlap’s situation, expressed that it would feel strange to play alone. He compared it to practicing on his own, which he found somewhat odd but also similar. If a player from the Aon Next 10 or Aon Swing 5 categories had chosen not to play, they would have had alternates lined up to take their place.

Despite the unconventional circumstances, Dunlap will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and compete among some of the best players on the PGA Tour. He will tee off on Thursday at 7:45 a.m. ET and begin his round on Friday at 10:40 a.m.
