Kirsten Grind Joins The New York Times Company’s Business Section

As a journalist, Kirsten Grind has made a name for herself as one of the most dedicated and persistent investigative reporters in the tech and finance industries. Starting later this month, she will be joining The New York Times team as a tech investigations reporter based in San Francisco.

Kirsten comes from The Wall Street Journal, where she served as an enterprise reporter for 12 years and was known for her investigative work that often shed light on suspect behavior, wrongdoing, and controversies involving some of the most influential figures in these industries. She covered a wide range of topics, from Elon Musk’s drug use to Tony Hsieh’s troubled life at Zappos.

Building relationships with sources in these sectors can be challenging, but Kirsten’s persistence and dedication have earned her a reputation for getting the job done. Her former colleague Jessica Silver-Greenberg, an investigative reporter in Business, recalled a time when Kirsten was heavily pregnant but still out in the field chasing down leads at Pimco. This commitment to her work has been a hallmark of Kirsten’s career.

Originally from San Diego, Kirsten graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and went on to work at several local newspapers in Colorado and Washington state before joining The Wall Street Journal. She has been recognized with numerous national awards for her reporting, including being a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist and receiving a Gerald Loeb Award. She is also the author of the book “The Lost Bank” and co-author of “Happy at Any Cost: The Revolutionary Vision and Fatal Quest of Zappos C.E.O. Tony Hsieh.”

We are thrilled to have Kirsten Grind on board at The New York Times and look forward to the important stories she will bring to our readers as part of our team. Please join us in welcoming her aboard!
