On this day, 60 years ago, American President John F. Kennedy, also known as JFK or Jack, was tragically assassinated. The Kennedy family has a long history of hard-to-explain tragedies. Just two years older than JFK, his sister Rosemary suffered a terrible and inhumane lobotomy that left her completely immobile for the rest of her life. Kathleen, who was only 22 at the time of her death, died when her plane crashed in the French Alps while flying home from a skiing trip with her husband. Older brother Joe died in a war plane during World War II. Tragically, their brother Robert was killed in 1968 while campaigning for the presidency. And just a few years later, their children would also pass away in mysterious circumstances.
