Three Austin-area high school athletes were recognized by the Greater Austin Sports Foundation on Wednesday for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom. Neliaj Deleon, a senior goalkeeper from Georgetown, helped lead the Eagles to a 22-1-4 season and a spot in the regional tournament this weekend. She was also named to last year’s Class 5A all-state tournament team and will continue her soccer career at Vanderbilt next season.

Josiah Moseley, a standout basketball player from Stony Point, was named the 2023 Central Texas boys basketball player of the year as a junior. In his senior year, he led the Tigers to their first-ever appearance in the Class 6A state championship game, finishing the season with a record of 38-2. Moseley was named Gatorade’s Texas boys basketball player of the year and will be playing for Villanova next season.

Savannah Skopal, a senior setter from Rouse, was recognized for her outstanding performance on the volleyball court. Skopal was named to the all-state volleyball team for all four years of her high school career and finished her senior season with impressive stats: 1,586 assists, 386 digs, 157 kills, 74 aces, and 70 blocks.
