Georgetown residents come together to honor book highlighting the significance of their neighborhood

The release of a new book celebrating the history and charm of Georgetown brought together a crowd of locals and fans. Author Beth Solomon was honored at a launch party for her book, “Georgetown Dish: Dishy Dollops from the World’s Most Important Neighborhood,” which is a compilation of stories and tidbits from her website created in 2009.

Georgetown, often referred to as the “Hollywood on the Potomac,” is a place where famous figures and regular citizens intertwine in everyday life. Solomon shared some of her favorite political moments from the neighborhood, including visits from former Presidents and world leaders at various local establishments.

Solomon, a former radio reporter and speechwriter, described Georgetown as a melting pot where people with diverse backgrounds and ideologies come together to share a drink and engage in conversation. She believes that the unique blend of famous personalities, journalists, politicians, and ordinary citizens in Georgetown creates an atmosphere that fosters interesting interactions and connections.

The celebration of Solomon’s book release was held at the home of Kate Lehrer, wife of the late journalist Jim Lehrer, and co-hosted by Didi Cutler and Colleen Nunn. The event brought together a mix of individuals who share a love for Georgetown and its rich history.
