Jose Cuello selected for all-state tournament team.

The College of the Sequoias men’s basketball team recently made its first state finals trip since 2000. However, they were defeated by the unbeaten West Valley team with a final score of 59-51. Despite a strong effort from players like Jose Cuello and Cameron Clark, the Giants were unable to secure a victory in the championship game. The loss ended an 11-game winning streak for COS, finishing their season with an overall record of 27-6.

On the softball diamond, the COS team has been performing well with a five-game winning streak, bringing their overall record to 19-7. Leading hitter Emily Ibarra has a .400 average, while pitcher Bailey Bustos boasts a 10-2 record and leads the team in RBIs with 17. The baseball team recently defeated Taft with a 17-5 victory behind the standout performances of catcher Alex Lopez and pitcher Nicholas Morrelli.

As the spring season progresses, the COS tennis teams have completed their conference dual matches and are gearing up for a non-conference match at Modesto this Thursday. The women’s team finished second in the conference with a 9-3 record, while the men are 7-4 for the season. Looking ahead, the track team will be competing in the West Coast Relays at Buchanan High School in Fresno, after a strong showing at the Bakersfield College Relays where they enjoyed several individual victories.
