King Charles has finally opened up about his cancer diagnosis, issuing a heartfelt statement to express his gratitude for the support he has received from the public. In a message issued by Buckingham Palace, the monarch thanked everyone for their messages of good wishes and encouragement in recent days, acknowledging that their kind thoughts have been a great comfort to him during this difficult time.
In his statement, King Charles also noted that sharing his own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and raise awareness about cancer. He expressed his admiration for the tireless work of organizations that support cancer patients and their families, which has grown as a result of his own personal experience with cancer.
The update comes nearly a week after the announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis, which followed a surgery to treat his enlarged prostate. Before the announcement, King Charles personally phoned his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, to break the news. While Prince Harry has not publicly addressed the matter, he did arrive in London the day after the news broke to meet his father in-person.
