Konecranes, a leading lifting equipment company, has been awarded a contract to modernize the bridge crane used in the reactor hall of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant in Sweden. The order for the contract was placed in the fourth quarter of 2023 and will take two years to complete.
Under this contract, Konecranes will design, manufacture, supply, and install modernization components for the bridge crane, including a new 165-ton trolley lift. This upgraded equipment is essential to ensuring that regulatory requirements are met during reactor maintenance and spent nuclear fuel transport tank removal.
