The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again in the news as they are reportedly interested in free agent wide receiver Mike Williams. Recent reports state that the Steelers, along with the Jets and Panthers, are scheduled to meet with Williams. This interest from Pittsburgh comes after acquiring quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, as well as linebacker Patrick Queen. Given the recent trades and releases by the Steelers involving Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson, Williams would be a logical addition to their roster. With Wilson and Fields earning under $4.5 million combined, the Steelers could potentially afford Williams if he doesn’t demand a big payday.

The Jets, who have Garrett Wilson as their headline receiver, are also looking to upgrade their receiving corps by meeting with Williams. Their current No. 2 and 3 wideouts have limited production from last season, so Williams could provide a much-needed boost to their offense. Despite his recent injuries, Williams has been a highly productive player throughout his career with the Chargers, posting impressive stats in terms of receptions and touchdowns. However, there is some risk involved with signing Williams, given his past injuries that have impacted his availability for games.
