Missouri Museum Breaks World Record for Most People Wearing Underwear as Hats

A large crowd gathered at the City Museum in St. Louis to celebrate breaking the Guinness World Record for the number of people wearing underwear on their heads for at least one minute. With a group of 355 individuals participating, they were able to surpass the previous record of 270 people wearing underpants as hats. The celebratory event took place on 314 Day, a local holiday held in honor of the city’s 314 area code.

The museum provided white briefs for the attempt to break the record, which was set in Naperville, Illinois in 2012. As a Guinness World Records adjudicator announced just after 2:30 p.m. that the record had officially been broken, the crowd erupted in excitement. The City Museum has a history of breaking records, having previously earned titles for the largest pencil, the longest seesaw, and the largest tennis racket. They also hold an unofficial record for the world’s largest pair of underpants, which are displayed at the museum.
