Zrinjski has announced that Mario Ivanković (48) will be taking over as the new head coach of the club, following the team’s recent 3-0 loss to Velež in the Mostar derby. Although Krunoslav Rendulić led Zrinjski to a double crown and a historic placement in the group stage of the Conference League last year, his recent performance was not enough to secure his position with the team.
Ivanković, who brings extensive experience in coaching first teams, has spent nearly six years with the same team. He has also worked with both the U17 and U19 national teams of BiH and is currently part of the professional staff of the A national team of BiH. Zrinjski has stated that Ivanković will be supported by coaches from the previous coaching staff until further notice as he takes on this new role.
The duration of Ivanković’s tenure as Zrinjski’s head coach remains undisclosed, but it is clear that he will bring a fresh perspective to the club as he works to turn things around after their recent defeat in the derby match.
