Northeast Michigan is currently experiencing an unseasonably snowless winter, prompting U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman to encourage small businesses impacted by the lack of snow to apply for federal loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The availability of Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans is a result of ongoing federal drought declarations affecting 42 Michigan counties, including Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties in Northeast Michigan.

Bergman is collaborating with Governor Gretchen Whitmer and other state officials to raise awareness about the program and ensure that small businesses in the affected areas receive the support they need. In a press release, Bergman emphasized the importance of coming together to help businesses navigate through this challenging winter and provide necessary resources to help communities thrive during this unprecedented time.

Business owners can submit applications and access additional disaster assistance information on lending.sba.gov. For more information on SBA disaster assistance, individuals can contact the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
