Meta Resolves Facebook and Instagram Glitches Following Widespread Outage

On Tuesday, Facebook and Instagram experienced outages that prevented many users from logging in to their accounts. The issue was resolved by Meta, the parent company that owns both platforms. Initially, users reported being logged out of their accounts and having trouble signing back in. A page maintained by Meta to monitor the status of their platforms noted “major disruptions” to Facebook logins. Downdetector also showed an increase in user-reported outages for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger on Tuesday morning.

Meta communications director Andy Stone acknowledged the issue and stated that they were working on resolving it. Later, Stone confirmed that the technical problem had been addressed and apologized for any inconvenience it may have caused. Although Meta did not provide additional information regarding the outage, it is clear that both platforms are now back up and running for most users.
