Business owners and platform users are reminded to have a plan following Meta outage

On Tuesday morning, Facebook and Instagram experienced outages, causing error messages to appear on users’ timelines. While some people use social media for leisure, businesses depend on it to function and promote their products or services. These outages can have a significant impact on businesses that rely on social media for marketing purposes.

Reid Trier from Weidert Group highlighted the importance of having a plan in place should another outage occur. Weidert Group consultant Chelsea Drusch stressed the need for businesses to be prepared for potential disruptions in social media platforms. Having a backup communication plan can help mitigate the impact of outages on business operations.

Jeremy Mattson, owner of Legendairy Ice Cream in Appleton, emphasized the importance of social media in attracting customers to his shop. Despite the short-term disruption, businesses are advised to be proactive in planning for future outages to minimize any potential impact on their operations. After a few hours, Facebook and Instagram were back up and running, with Meta, the parent company that owns both platforms, attributing the outages to a “technical issue.”
