Texas DT T’Vondre Sweat Arrested and Charged with DWI in Austin

Former Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Austin, Texas. Sweat, 22, was arrested on Sunday afternoon and booked at 2:12 p.m. CT. Details of his arrest have not been released. A bond of $3,000 was set for Sweat, which was paid via “personal bond” before 3:45 p.m. CT. His future court appearances are currently unknown.

Sweat was seen at McCombs Field in Austin the day before his arrest, watching Texas beat Oklahoma in softball. Despite the legal issues, Sweat is projected to be a second- or third-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. In his final season at Texas, Sweat won the 2023 Outland Trophy and was named the Big 12 Conference defensive player of the year. He recorded impressive stats, including 45 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and two sacks, helping Texas win the Big 12 championship and reach the College Football Playoff semifinals. Sweat is considered the top nose tackle available in the draft, which will take place in Detroit from April 25-27.
