Rob Katz, former CEO of Vail Resorts, to be honored with induction into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame

The Colorado Business Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 inductees, and among them is former Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz. Katz became CEO of Vail Resorts in 2006 and was instrumental in the development of a season pass program that led to the launch of the industry-changing Epic Pass in 2008.

Under his leadership, Vail Resorts grew from five to 41 resorts and increased the number of employees at its Broomfield headquarters from 200 to 1,200. In addition to his work with Vail Resorts, Katz founded the Katz Amsterdam Foundation, which focuses on nonprofits in mountain communities that address mental and behavioral challenges. The foundation has given over $22 million back to the community.

Katz stepped down as CEO in 2021 but remains on the board as executive chairman and continues to be involved in the strategic operations of the company. Other honorees inducted into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame this year are Rose Andom, Pat Hamill, John A. Ikard, Steve Schuck, and Elizabeth Hickok Robbins Stone.

The induction ceremony will take place at the annual Colorado Business Hall of Fame dinner on Feb. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center, hosted by Denver7’s Brian Sanders.
