Veterans in the state receive $5K in funding for dental health programs

The University of Maine at Augusta recently received a $5,000 grant to offer free dental hygiene services, including cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatment, and basic restorative care like simple fillings, to veterans. The UMA Dental Health Programs at both the Lewiston and Bangor dental clinics have been part of the Maine Veterans’ Dental Network for three years. Northeast Delta Dental has contributed $300,000 to the MVDN for its 2024 program, and UMA is one of 13 clinics selected to participate in this network of providers.

To receive the free services, veterans must qualify and be pre-approved. They can contact the MVDN at 207-287-6836 or email mvdn.mainebvs@maine.gov for approval before their clinic appointment. The UMA Dental Clinic has available slots for qualifying veterans in the spring and fall. To schedule an appointment, veterans can call 207-262-7872.

In addition to the dental services for veterans, there are other upcoming events in the area. Stay updated on local news and events for Winslow Elementary kindergarten registration and the Forest Hills High School students of the month.
