Cal Fire is currently at the site of a commercial structure fire that took place on Country Club Drive and Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert, destroying four businesses. The fire began around 3:00 AM on Sunday inside a 30,000 sq. ft building located in a strip mall. As firefighters worked to contain the fire, six nearby residents were evacuated temporarily. The blaze resulted in the loss of four businesses, which have not been named.
A video captured by viewer Paul Aimbez shows the fire in its active state early Sunday morning. The fire was brought under control by 5:00 AM, with one RSO deputy being transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported. Fire crews will be present at the scene for overhaul and salvage efforts, while an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
