Chiefs leaning towards keeping Rashee Rice on the team

The Kansas City Chiefs have remained relatively quiet about receiver Rashee Rice following a street racing incident last month that resulted in a six-car crash. Despite calls for the team to cut ties with him, it appears that the Chiefs have no intention of ending their relationship with Rice. Currently, Rice is participating in the offseason program virtually, along with the rest of the team. The big question is whether Rice will be present in the building when players return.

Head coach Andy Reid stated that they will be taking things day by day as the situation unfolds. The NFL could make a decision that impacts the team at any moment, but so far, no action has been taken beyond monitoring the situation. Reid emphasized that the team will allow the legal process to play out. Rice is currently facing eight felony charges in connection to the incident.

When asked if the Chiefs still trust Rice, Reid mentioned that as long as he learns from the situation, that is what matters. It appears that the team is giving him the benefit of the doubt, believing he can move past this incident. However, simply experiencing consequences may not be enough to prevent similar behavior in the future.

It seems that the Chiefs are not inclined to cut ties with Rice, especially considering his skills as a player. Despite the potential for Rice to be absent for a portion of the 2024 season, the team values his talent and appears willing to work through the situation with him.
