Heraldrepublican reports on Trine’s launch of new environmental science degree

Trine University, drawing on its strengths in the sciences and engineering, has announced the launch of a Bachelor of Science in environmental science degree program. The program aims to provide students with the necessary skills to understand and address the environmental challenges facing the planet. Classes for the new program are set to begin in August.

The Bachelor of Science in environmental science will be offered through Trine’s Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in various fields related to the environment, law, health and safety, or public policy. Dean of the Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences, Lexie Staten, emphasizes that the program focuses on examining and improving the health of the planet and its inhabitants.

By offering hands-on fieldwork and research projects, the degree will equip graduates to work in governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or private companies as environmental or conservation scientists, environmental educators, lawyers, environmental policy analysts, or environmental health and safety specialists. With the Bureau of Labor Services predicting above-average job growth in the field over the next decade, the Bachelor of Science in environmental science is poised to provide employment opportunities for graduates.

Trine University has a strong track record of offering programs that lead to employment opportunities for graduates. Over the past 11 years, more than 99 percent of Trine graduates have been employed or in graduate school within six months of commencement.
