UHS Gets Ready to Surpass Expectations on April 8 with “Eclipse” Event

The University Health Service staff members will have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the 2024 Solar Eclipse as the office will be closed for one hour in the afternoon on April 8, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. During this time, Dr. Ethan Beaudett, our Medical Chief, will be on-call to handle any urgent calls received by our answering service. Normal operations will resume at 4:00 p.m.

We encourage everyone to take the time to witness this momentous event in history! It is important to remember to protect your eyes during a solar eclipse to avoid any potential long-term damage to your vision. Professor James Zavislan, an expert in optics, biomedical engineering, and ophthalmology, explains the science behind eclipse glasses and how they can safeguard your eyes from the sun’s light.

If you are in need of eclipse glasses before the total solar eclipse, you can obtain up to two pairs with a University ID from locations on the River Campus and at the Eastman School of Music. Enjoy this incredible natural phenomenon safely and responsibly!
