USU Extension Education Highlight: ‘Exploring Mental Health Conversations for Coal Miners’

The HEART Initiative at Utah State University, along with the Southeast Utah Health Department, will be hosting a conference titled “Conversations for Coal Miners and Mental Health” on Tuesday, April 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center in Price, Utah. The conference aims to address mental health issues specific to rural communities in Utah.

Speakers at the conference will include Ashley Yaugher from USU Extension in Carbon & Emery counties, Amanda McIntosh, Suicide Prevention Specialist from the Southeast Utah Health Department, and guest speaker Dr. Kristen Koci, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at Utah State University. The conference will provide an opportunity for coal miners and others in the community to engage in important conversations about mental health.
