The John Massey School of Business at Southeastern Oklahoma State University recently received recognition for excellence in various fields at the national conference of the Federation of Business Disciplines, held in Galveston, Texas this week.
Among the nine associations represented at the FBD were the Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ASBE) and the Southwest Case Research Association (SWCRA). The leadership of the JMSB was honored as the Educator of the Year by both of these groups.
Dr. Courtney Kernek, Associate Dean of the JMSB, received the 2024 Educator of the Year award for ASBE, while Dr. David Whitlock, the Interim Dean of the JMSB, received the same award for SWCRA.
Additionally, the ASBE recognized Dr. Whitlock, Dr. Ashley Hampton, and Dr. Shanker Menon for their paper on the career preferences of business students. The SWCRA awarded Dr. Ying-Chou Lin, Dr. Arthur Tran, and Dr. Meng Li for their research on the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in 2023.
Dr. Whitlock expressed his pride in the JMSB’s continuous efforts to enhance its reputation, stating that these awards are a testament to the high-quality education provided to students. He commended the faculty for their dedication to academic excellence as scholars, practitioners, and educators.
